A True Legacy of Giving: From a Humble Dreamer to a Visionary Giver

Born into a humble family, he spent his youth working long days and nights just to afford his education. Yet through those years of hardship, one belief carried him forward: education is the bridge to a better life. Decades later, as the Chairman of one of Korea’s leading industrial/manufacturing groups, he still holds on to that same belief, but now, he builds the bridge for others. 

A renewed scholarship to continue nurture talents 

On October 8, 2025, SOOSAN Group officially extended the Dean Choi Grant by SOOSAN for another five years (2026–2030), with an additional USD 350,000, bringing the total grant to USD 700,000 since its establishment in 2020. 

This renewed scholarship will now extend beyond the College of Business and Management (CBM) to include students from the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS), reflecting Chairman Chung’s conviction that Vietnam will rise by leading in science and technology.

Five years of changing lives 

Over the past five years, the Dean Choi Grant by SOOSAN has supported more than 20 outstanding VinUni students, young people who might have been forced to give up their dreams without financial aid. 

Thanks to this scholarship, they have not only continued their studies but have transformed opportunities into impact: conducting meaningful research, leading innovation projects, founding student-led initiatives, and creating solutions that address real-world challenges. 

Many of them have gone on to pursue careers at leading corporations, launch social impact ventures, or continue their research at world-class universities. They are no longer just students. They are young changemakers, turning knowledge into purpose and belief into action. 

For these students, the scholarship was not just financial support. It was a message of belief, a reminder that someone who once had so little now believes deeply in their limitless potential to change the world.
