1.1. Does VinUniversity accept donations/gifts? What for?
Yes — VinUniversity (VinUni) does accept donations (gifts) and actively encourages philanthropic support to help advance its mission and support students, research, and community programs.
This applies to both monetary and non-monetary gifts (like equipment, books, real estate, etc.) as long as the gift’s source and purpose align with the university’s values and goals. You can find areas to support in this VinUni Giving Book.
1.2. Who can give?
Individuals, corporations, foundations, alumni, parents, partners, and other supporters in Vietnam or abroad may give to VinUniversity.
1.3. Can I choose how my gift is used?
Yes. You may choose to make:
- Unrestricted gifts, applied to VinUniversity’s most urgent needs; or
- Designated gifts, directed toward approved purposes such as scholarships, facilities, research, academic programs, or community initiatives.

2.1. What types of gifts does VinUniversity accept?
VinUniversity accepts the following types of donations:
- Monetary contributions: cash, foreign currency, diamonds, gemstones, and precious metals.
- In-kind gifts: books, clothing, food and agricultural products, materials, equipment, teaching aids, or construction-related items.
- Non-material contributions: expert services, voluntary work, intellectual property rights, copyrights, and land-use rights.
- Other legitimate contributions as permitted by law (including securities and cryptocurrencies)
2.2. How can I make my gift?
Donations may be made through:
- Bank transfer to VinUniversity bank accounts (domestic or international).
- Secure online payment via OnePay.
- International giving through Friends of VinUniversity (FoV) for U.S.-based donors.
- We recommend that you fill out the pledge form on our website first.
2.3. Does VinUni accept anonymous gifts?
Yes.
Donors may request public anonymity; however, VinUniversity must verify donor identity internally for due diligence and legal compliance.
2.4. Can I give from outside Vietnam?
Yes.
International donors may contribute via VinUniversity’s secure online payment gateway (OnePay), or Friends of VinUniversity (FoV) bank account for U.S. taxpayers.
3.1. How do you ensure gifts align with VinUniversity values?
VinUniversity does not accept donations that conflict with its social, environmental, or humanitarian commitments, or that pose legal, ethical, or reputational risks.
3.2. Can my donation influence admissions, hiring, or academic decisions?
No. Donations do not influence admissions, faculty appointments, grades, or academic outcomes. VinUniversity maintains full academic and operational independence.
4.1. Will my gift require a formal agreement?
Yes, it is required for organizational donors, high-value, long-term, or complex gifts.
Agreements define purpose, amount, schedule, recognition, and data consent.
4.2. How quickly will my gift be processed?
VinUniversity issues official acknowledgements within a maximum of 14 business days after funds are successfully received and verified.
4.3. How will I know my gift is being used as intended?
Donors receive periodic updates on the impact of their giving, including reports and communications related to donor-funded initiatives.
Donors can also request relevation information to our Development Teams at any time.
4.4. How does VinUni recognize donors?
Donors receive appropriate acknowledgements and recognition, unless anonymity is requested.
Recognition follows VinUniversity’s stewardship policies and branding principles.
4.5. Does VinUni offer naming opportunities?
Yes.
Naming opportunities for facilities, spaces, or scholarships may be offered for significant contributions and are subject to University policies.
What happens if the purpose of my endowed gift can no longer be met?
If the original purpose becomes impossible or obsolete, VinUniversity will consult the donor (where possible) and redesignate the gift to a related purpose consistent with its mission.
6.1. Can my gift be returned?
Gifts accepted in good faith are generally non-refundable. Exceptions may apply in limited cases involving legal or ethical issues.
6.2. How is my personal information protected?
VinUniversity protects donor information in accordance with applicable privacy laws. Donor data is used solely for stewardship, reporting, and legal compliance purposes.
7.1. Is my gift tax-deductible?
In Vietnam, sponsorship expenses may be treated as deductible expenses for corporate income tax purposes, subject to applicable regulations.
For U.S. donors, gifts made through Friends of VinUniversity (FoV) may be tax-deductible under U.S. regulations.
