Nguyen Thi Van Anh
College of Business and Management
Van Anh comes from 7 generations of rice farmers in northern Vietnam. Rising at 4 am, she labored in the rice fields to support her family. Recognized for her academic abilities, she transitioned from a local village primary school to the province’s gifted high school. She was not very popular and had some challenges making friends.
Van Anh’s journey to VinUni was a resilient odyssey. Discovering the university through a YouTube video, she was captivated by the international environment. Despite an initial rejection, her determination fueled a second application, leading to a life-changing interview. In VinUni, after endeavors from an initial low GPA, she strived to achieve President’s List and Dean’s List. As a passionate music enthusiast, Van Anh also founded VinUni Harmony, a vibrant music club on campus. The club soon became one of the three most successful clubs in the school.
Her VinUni scholarship made her dreams and ambitions come true. With eyes set on an MBA at Cornell University, she envisions a future in healthcare management and education. Inspired by her internship at Vinmec, she launched a start-up business that provides online medical
education to Vietnamese-speaking medical students. She is growing enrollment by 50 people per month and should reach profitability in a few months.
Van Anh’s long-term goal is as heartfelt as her journey, which is to pay forward the support and confidence she gained from VinUni’s professors. Through a career in healthcare education and management, she aims to empower others, echoing the life-changing impact that has shaped her extraordinary story.
