Do Truong Huy
College of Business and Management
Huy grew up in the West of Hanoi; his dad is a small business owner and his mother is a doctor. Growing up and attending public school was challenging because Huy had a severe communication disorder as a child. He was often teased by his primary school classmates and describes it as “not a happy childhood”. In high school, he found “lovely and supportive friends” who helped him understand “to be honest with your weakness”. This helped him overcome his shyness and “give up everything that weighs me down so I can see myself as normal”.
He was attracted to VinUni because of the beautiful architecture, international standards, and high standards that will challenge him beyond his comfort zone. He describes the teaching approach as “student-centric”. He enjoys discussions and debates with his fellow students. His VinUni education gave him the freedom to design his course of study to develop his full potential; whereas his friends in public universities in Vietnam said they “have to follow a strict and formal framework”.
Huy’s goal is to apply for the Management Trainees program in Multinational companies. He will be applying for the Unilever management training internship program to develop his skills and experience. After building his skills and experience working for a multinational company, he wants to launch his own startup.
He is grateful for his scholarship because it overcomes the greatest educational barrier – finances. He can fully immerse himself in his studies and research. In doing so, he has built his confidence and become more competent and enthusiastic about his studies and future. “I feel satisfied with every day VinUni gives me. It was the best experience I could ever imagine.
